Businesses today face challenges not seen before, especially in the areas of fraud prevention and compliance verification. However, at the same time, the need to generate organic growth has seen a renewed focus on customer service and customer cross-sell. As organizations seek new applications to address these issues, they are once again contemplating an event-driven approach.
Applications designed to address these issues share a common set of characteristics based on the fact that in most cases the solution involves proactive response to unpredictable activity. As such, these applications involve processes that are typically non-linear (their timing and sequence cannot be defined in advance), dynamic (their characteristics change quite frequently), and continuously influenced by outside events (they can quickly mutate in response to real-time external activity).
